Back in 2001, Paramount Studios presented Star Trek fans with a new series in the ongoing franchise called Star Trek: Enterprise

The series focused on the early days of deep space flight, 100 years before Captain Kirk and his crew ventured out. The series lasted for four seasons and starred veteran television and theater actor Scott Bakula. Now, almost 25 years after Enterprise's end, Bakula wants to return to the franchise by pitching a new series made for Paramount+ after its merger with Skydance Media.

Bakula attended Star Trek Las Vegas: Trek To Vegas earlier this month to discuss his time on Enterprise and graciously answer fans' questions. At one point, the actor revealed that he was in talks to produce and act in a new Star Trek series called Star Trek: United. While details are still developing, Bakula gave the audience a few details about what this new series, if greenlit, will open a whole new chapter in Starfleet and the Federation.

Star Trek: United will focus on the days after Enterprise, where Archer serves as the first president of the Federation in its earliest days, and will explore that pivotal time in the organization's history. Bakula hinted that the show would be part family drama and part political thriller. He also revealed that he's working with former Enterprise producer and writer Michael Sussman to develop the show's pitch.

During the panel, Scott Bakula revealed that while he and Sussman developed this idea several years ago as a direct follow-up to Enterprise, as he felt the final episodes of the series hinted at the development of the Federation, but never had the chance to fully examine the possibilities. At the time, he revealed that Paramount was putting a great deal into developing Starfleet Academy, and the streaming service had yet to grow, so Paramount turned the idea down.

Bakula also revealed that he and Sussman have tightened the idea, adding new elements into Star Trek: United, and hope that it fits into the Paramount+ streaming service. While there is no word about when the new pitch will take place, Bakula fans just might get the chance to see Jonathan Archer back on their television screens!
