Showing Original Post only (View all)The Geminid Meteor Shower [View all]
I drove two hundred miles and camped out all night in the Mojave Desert to capture these images of last week's Geminid Meteor Shower. The Geminids are known as one of the best celestial shows, and this one didn't disappoint. I had a difficult time deciding where to point my camera as the meteors were showing up all over the sky, about sixty per hour. My technique is to set my cameras to continually shoot images one after another, and then search them later to see what I captured. My exposure was :25 at F2.8, ISO 3200, 3200k color balance and a one second interval with ultrawide lenses. I had two full frame cameras going, a Canon 6dm2 and a Canon R5. Next year I plan to run a video camera as well. The location was the Alabama Hills in the Mojave Desert just below Mount Whitney and Lone Pine Peak.
Enjoy!
