Deep Purple was my 1st ever rock concert, in June 1973 (shortly before Ian Gillan left the band). I bought the Made In Japan album, then In Rock. I almost wore out the side with Child In Time. The studio version has a different vibe, and perhaps a better Ritchie Blackmore solo.

In the "Twisters" movie, the Jack Black character started blasting the solo in his van, taking off to chase a tornado. More recently, the season 5 trailer of "Stranger Things" includes portions of Child In Time with Ian's high pitched wails.

But it's hard to beat this live performance, especially Ian's vocals. Luviano Pavarotti called Ian's voice "a force of nature." Andrew Lloyd Weber wanted him to play the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar. Gillan wouldn't quit the band at that time, but he did sing the role of Jesus on the LP record.
