Review: 'You lot have been missed. F****** lunatics' - Gallagher brothers and Oasis make triumphant return to Ireland [View all]

From the Irish Examiner:

Nineties nostalgia this certainly ain’t. Or if it is, then nostalgia has just been given a long overdue snarky 2020s facelift, less pop collagen and more rock venom.

"I don’t think we’ve played here before, have we?" asks Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher early on.

"All I do know is that this is the most sober I’ve ever been in Ireland. That’s not good. That had to change," he mouths silently, walking away from the mic.

Much more at the link. Great review, amusingly written, with just one jarring slip-up. There's a reference to " their proud Irish parents, happy that Noel and Liam are reformed(ish) and clearly back having fun with their old chums." I was stunned that the reviewer didn't know their dad, whom their mom had to escape, was an alcoholic who beat his wife and two older sons, especially Noel.

Their mom, Peggy, was at last night's concert, and Liam dedicated Stand By Me to her. See this thread: Review: https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034149907

And this - another article about last night's show:

Roll With it, Supersonic, and especially Cigarettes & Alcohol were greeted like clarion calls to the mostly middle-aged crowd to have it large like it’s 1995 – but the mix in ages of the audience was truly 17 to 70.

‘Is there anybody here from Mayo, Charlestown? You can’t all be – only five people live there,’ Liam said in reference to his and Noel’s mother Peggy’s hometown, before introducing Roll With It. ‘This is for everybody from Mayo.’

He then blew a kiss to where she was sitting in the upper Hogan stand, and mouthed, ‘I love you Mum,’ twice, before kissing big brother Noel on the cheek.

He wasn't done serenading Peggy yet. As Stand By Me started, the younger Gallagher announced: ‘I want to dedicate this to me Mam. Me Mam’s here tonight.’ As the music played on and dusk fell, a slew of their slower songs appeard in the second half.

And in Dublin tonight:
