... assorted pirogis. The next day, they'd bake cookies. My mother's fruit cakes would already be made and sitting in a big sealed pot in the pantry aging with rum.
I used to make them myself, then I discovered the coincidentally named Mrs Wagner's pirogis in the grocery freezer.
