Collections agencies like to try numbers to see if they are active and if they go to whom they are looking for. If you answer, that tells them that it is you and the number is good.

There are other agencies that use this practice as well. Which is why I seldom answer any number I do not recognize or have been warned to expect.

They own us enough. Not going to make it easier for them.
