Separate out the copper pennies, those 1980 and before. They might be worth something someday even if it is illegal to melt them. Do we worry about illegalities anymore?
You could ring the red kettle at Salvation Army Holiday time.
When you go to the bank, deposit a handful. They won't charge to count $1.73, but I heard some do for large amounts.
Go to a flea market. Those folks love cash.
I'm surprised that so many still use cash. I see them at the supermarkets.

I've had them forever, maybe over 20 years since we've lived in our house. It is a huge jar, now about full.
