I see no negatives about this. People should have children only because they want them, not because it is "expected" of them. Ditto for marriage, which is dying out in western countries anyway and should have died out centuries ago.

The 1950s mindset is very hard for many to shake. From the excerpt provided, it seems the author doesn't have a clue what is really happening, and that is patriarchy is dying out. For her, it is everything BUT women saying "no."
