A lot of men, perhaps especially among older generations, seem incapable of taking responsibility for anything other than a dayjob – even when there isn't one – and fail to appreciate the amount of work left to the wife to do. The wife ends up feeling like a mom even if she isn't one. Even apart from the exhaustion, it's not a sexually-exciting situation for her.
