And no, $60/¥10,000 won’t buy you a backpack, tent, sleeping bag and camp stove, i.e., all the stuff you need to survive. He was an avid hiker/camper. He knew he needed those things to survive in those stormy woods. It doesn’t sound like he went into those woods with the intent to survive.
