is still "illicit" in most of the USA. Certain counties in Nevada are exempt.

From Wikipedia : paying someone for sex is illegal in almost all jurisdictions. The only exceptions are in certain rural counties of Nevada where licensed brothels are permitted, and in Maine, where selling sex is decriminalized but buying it is still a crime

so really, where did the sex take place? Was money or gifts given with the expectation of sex?
