So no wonder guns have become a fetish for some men who try to conflate masculinity with the use of deadly force. As an actor he portrayed many characters in Westerns that dramatized gun battles. But acting is not real life and bleeding fake blood on the movie set presents a false narrative of what genuine gun violence really means to combatants and the often grossly wounded survivors of it. I support the constitutional right to self defense but should that day come when the Federal Government seeks to disarm everyone, they probably will be able to do that no matter what small arms opposition is aimed at the most powerful military in the world marshalled against its own citizens. But this will likely occur during a time of a protracted guerilla war in which lots of real blood will be shed.
