3. Why ban books at the college level?

When students reach college age, adults can't really influence them much. Banning books is only effective when the children are very young, and parents don't want them to learn about homosexuality, "other" religions, non-white racial history, etc. By the time they've reached their teens, most kids are more influenced by their peers than by parents or teachers. By the time they've reached college-age, many of them are actively seeking alternate lifestyles and philosophies. That's just the way it is.
