"Officer" they refused to ID themselves, so we thought they were trying to kidnap this person. Can't be too careful these days. And there are lots of crazy people running around claiming to be cops. We're just dong our duty as good citizens."
I seriously doubt a citizen could be convicted of assault on an "officer" if the "officer" does not show ID. If a real cop arrests, then that shows collaboration and cover up.
I suggest making signs to the affect of "Anyone attempting to kidnap / arrest a person, or invade a domicile, without properly Identifying them selves before the action, will be assumed to be a criminal, and their action will be stopped by whatever means necessary. They will be subject to citizen's arrest and bound over to the authorities.
