It actually feels a bit insulting and gaslighting to be honest. I wish he had not taken the party’s relatively strong midterm performance as a sign that he should run again. Even then exit polls showed he shouldn’t.

Biden’s average approval rating at the end of his term was somewhere under 40%. That’s not something that would have won him reelection. He was trailing Trump in almost every poll even before the debate and the performance reinforced any negative preconceptions people had about his age.

Does any of this excuse the medias lack of coverage of trumps own obvious cognitive deterioration? Absolutely not, but this doesn’t change the fact that unfortunately, Biden at the time of the election, was a deeply unpopular president, in spite of being very effective.
