Every dictator needs the military behind him. Then when Trump declares himself president for life, the military will do nothing.

Trump wants military leaders less like General Milley, who clearly reiterated loyalty to the Constitution instead of a person, and more like Hegseth who are loyal only to Trump and are willing to use military power to support his actions no matter what they are. By firing top leaders, Trump has created chaos and the fear that anyone who speaks out is next. He thrives on threats and gets people to do what he wants for fear of retribution.
