and dependents you would qualify for a subsidy if it was less than a certain amount.

If you cannot afford the premium with or without the subsidy, you may want to talk to the ACA and see what alternatives you have.

You can be granted an exclusion from the mandate if; The lowest-priced coverage available to you, usually the Bronze plan, would cost more than eight percent of your annual household income.

I know that defeats the purpose of getting insurance, but if it fits your category at least you won't be penalized

I am able to select both links. The first link tells balanced story, the second link blames it on the ACA
