29. Some tips

Unless you have a valid reason to answer calls not in your contacts then simply do not answer them. That is what voicemail is for. Be sure to keep your contacts up to date. Learn how to use your phone, if necessary. That is what tech support relatives are for. You can add additional numbers to a contact. For example, one of my medical offices will call from a number ending in 00, 01 or 02. All three are on the same contact and come up as Dr. Medico. I have another contact that comes up as Various 2FA for two-factor authentication texts. Some folks don't realize that the number that texts come from can be a contact, too.

A simple rule for texts and emails is to never click on a link. It is convenient but risky. Navigate to the website yourself. Login if necessary but do it from a home page you got to without using a link.

Another tip for emails is to look at the header for the email (some email programs hide the header by default.) Did the email supposedly from Apple actually come from support@apple.com (the part after the @ sign is the important part) or did it come from a long domain name which includes the word apple. Those are not the same. I used to get fake emails from rando@hotmail.com (...and delete.)
