It can cause severe diarrhea and dehydration, which can be life threatening. Unlike typical GI illnesses, this one can last for weeks.

I'm allergic to the sulfa drug used to treat it, so I'm keeping an eye on this outbreak.

I am going to be cautious about eating raw vegetables like salads in restaurants and I'll rinse raw fruits and veggies I eat at home.

It's never a good idea to swim in freshwater during the summer. Stay away from small lakes and warm rivers. That's where all kinds of bugs like to grow.

The numbers are likely higher than reported, but we don't know since RFK, Jr. gutted the CDC.

It's not nothing, but certainly not worth getting worried and upset about. Just use some caution.
