1. There is what I think might be an excellent book on this topic that I took out of the library but never had time to read

The Great Leveler: Violence and the History of Inequality from the Stone Age to the Twenty-First Century

The thesis of the book is that inequality is generally only erased by violence.

It strikes me as a concern for these times.
