Maybe it's because my family have lived in AZ for several generations, but artifacts are EVERYWHERE here.

If you get off the pavement, and spend any time looking carefully on the ground, you will find pot sherds, etc. almost anywhere.
We all know not to touch them, in fact, it's against the law.
