they can't sue a deceased person, but they can sue an estate. That would be state law and there are all kinds of particulars that have to be observed to do it. They can get money.
I would think there are quite a few states in which he could be sued. This should delight the family, seeing all those ill-gotten gains going to people he screwed over.
