2. This is not at all surprising to me

even a little bit. He's a Republican and that doesn't mean what it did when I was a child (many years ago).

This is the face they have chosen. It is who they are.

Those Republican relatives? The vast majority of them have been absorbed into the cult.

This young man is not a "nice kid". He's a blonde white kid who has been told he's the center of the universe and that has gone to his head.

I used to believe that Republicans wanted the same general things we did, a country where everyone thrives. That illusion was shattered decades ago. I was a naive child.

Now, I live by this: When someone shows you who they are, believe them.
