4. Brit here. I've never heard a Brit aim that word at women, but exclusively at males.

Its use toward a woman seems to be an American thing. It may creep over to the UK from the US, as so much does, but it would be an innovation.

If anyone thinks it's not an inflammatory or taboo word in the UK, I advise they don't use it willy-nilly if visiting the UK.
