"Threatening to 'pull him out' of his vehicle is a threat of unlawful force"

The crime is ASSAULT.

Maine §459. "Any person subject to this Code who attempts or offers with unlawful force or violence to do bodily harm to another person, whether or not the attempt or offer is consummated, is guilty of assault."

People need to start calling 911 and reporting an assault in progress when these encounters happen. Most people think assault requires violence, even physical injury. In every state I have looked at, it does not require the violence to actually connect. The THREAT of violence is enough to constitute assault.

They committed a crime. Call 911 and insist on pressing charges.
