(3,389 posts)A simple Google search returns multiple articles stating that the medical examiner's office issued a statement denying that Reed's body showed evidence of broken bones or, indeed, of any wounds whatsoever. So not just no broken bones but no cuts, lacerations, contusions, no indication of violence whatsoever or self-defense against violence.
The claim of broken limbs has all the hallmarks of internet rumormongering and yet it's simply accepted at face value with zero research or critical examination.
Even if we imagine that the police and medical examiner are lying and Reed's limbs truly were broken, what purpose would such a transparent falsehood serve? Why on earth would they tell such a lie knowing full well the kind of blowback they'll receive once it's discovered? They must know the family will demand an independent examination and the truth will immediately come out. Why tell such a feeble lie when the truth will come out in days, a week at most? For funsies?
I get that we're living in some awful goddamn times but it's very disheartening to watch people leap to conclusions without any kind of investigation or critical thought.
