...the Chief Justice has become one of Trump's minions, conferring on him powers that would have made Jefferson and Madison puke out their guts.

This administration has essentially declared war on judges they don't agree with, and most of the lower court judges seem to understand how that's paving the road to fascism. The conservative justices on the Supreme Court don't give a shit. They're either bought, or they're blissfully ignorant of the dangers that exist for their lower court compatriots. The cowardice/capitulation of the Supreme Court has been the biggest enabler of Trump and his minions.

So anyone who continues to believe the rule of law continues to exist in this country is living in a delusion. Whether it's permanently dead remains to be seen, but, for now, as long as The Roberts Court is comfortable with empowering Trump, the federal government is a modern day Deadwood.
