The same hotel room I book when I have to overnight in Brussels (halfway between Düsseldorf and Paris, almost) can cost €189 or €525 depending on whether or not there is some big convention or diplomatic event in town. While I/we could pay the €525, I can’t justify it personally, and if I can’t get the room way cheaper by phone (it works sometimes), I’ll either stay elsewhere or else make the trek back home and start fresh at 4:30 AM the next day.

I am completely done with American Airlines. What a horrible, nasty, consumer-unfriendly company. Since the awful experience with them 4 years ago in Dallas, I have not flown with them since, and will continue to avoid them whenever possible.
