. . . my father graduated from a Mississippi "teachers' college" where he played football and majored in chemistry, math, and physical education.
Between 1936 and 1942 he taught math and chemistry and coached football in a rural Mississippi high school.
In 1942 my father, his two brothers, his college classmates, his high school classmates, and most of the young men who played football for my father enlisted and went off to Europe to kill Nazis. The did a fine job of it . . . except . . . they didn't get them all and left the to breed. It's now up to us to finish the job.
