The lie about ‘illegal’ immigrants being eligible for Medicaid is likely predicated on emergency Medicaid for those undocumented; ‘emergency’ as in humanitarian – an undocumented immigrant being seriously injured in a car accident, for example, will receive such emergency care via Medicaid.

But such cases are extremely rare and make up a tiny fraction of a state’s Medicaid budget.

‘Illegal’ immigrants on Medicaid is more red meat for the racist right.
