What we have here is a retired British Army FV433 Abbot 105mm self-propelled howitzer. When the British Army replaced the roughly 250 Abbots they had, they welded the breech blocks of the main guns shut and sold them to collectors. A few of them have wound up in the US, but most of them are still in England. Someone in Idaho has one and drives it in parades, where it's popular. I photographed this machine very heavily the first parade I went to that it was in, and when our managing editor decided to do a story about it I sat down with the photos and described what everything on the vehicle was to the reporter.
