(2,945 posts)I took two more shots today at the groundhog who has been destroying my garden in previous years,
and MISSED...
They were long shots with open sights, with a crossman air rifle, (low budget),
which I had not yet done any practice with....
The groundhog, was very very oddly situating himself at the top of the fence
at the back of the back-yard--- and just sitting there--- behavior that I have never seen before...
Maybe it means that he is afraid to come through my backyard,
maybe somebody shot at him before I DID... anyway, he or SHE is a clever little bastard.
It was a pretty long shot, with an air fifle at about 55 feet, and my eyes aren't that good,
and my hands are not that steady, either---
Afterwards, I finally set up a target under where it was sitting, and tested myself...
At first, I thought I had missed the target entirely---
but turns out I was a couple inches away from the bullseye, with two test shots
(was somewhat impressed by the penetration power of the rounds
into a very old and hardened wooden fence, behind the target).
NOT SURE, the last shot might have hit it.... if it goes into its hole and dies,
that would be fine with me.... still queer that it would sit at the top of a fence....
that was totally strange behavior
