Some of the *rest of us [well, not the lazy sots who didn't vote!!! 😬 ] are trying to help Frodo and Sam get to, and into Mt Doom!

If I remember correctly in The Return of The King once the ring melts in the lava you see Sauron's troops kind of blink their eyes, and are released from the dark lord's hold on them, and they go running away!
