2. Not surprised. It started 24 years ago with ABC/Disney eradicating a progressive radio station.

The corporation purchased from The Jewish Forward a radio station/band with a good range. The radio station was in New York City named WEVD. Prior to the purchase, it was the only station that was politically progressive. The hosts discussed social injustice locally, regionally, statewide, and federally. Only station that criticized Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, Alan Keyes, Dick Armey, J.C. Watts, Shrub, and Giuliani when he was NYC mayor *.

Supporters of WEVD knew that ABC/Disney would shut down the station, delete the format because of the influence it had on listeners. The format was replaced with the radio flagship station for ESPN.

And there were other post-WEVD stations (WWRL, WLIB), but they too are gone. Arguably the most progressive city in the nation has no progressive radio station.

And it started with ABC/Disney.

* Morning host, Bill Mazer, was cautious not to criticize Giuliani too much b/c the latter gave the eulogy to Mazer's late wife, Dutch, and Mazer felt indebted to him.
