(42,606 posts)My 300 year old neighbor brags about receiving Social Security from our federal Government before we had a federal government. I drive him to pickle ball in our indoor center twice a week and he regales us with stories about how he dug holes and put all his SS checks in his cow pasture until banks became a thing. He also told us he knew the Republican Party would really suck to high heaven in the 20th century. Quite a guy.
Dug holes in his cow pasture. Wink-wink. The guy is brilliant and he doesnt love stupid people.

(1,920 posts)It is his belief (and I respect his right to have and express his opinions) that Trump's consistent negative statements against Biden and his family were sufficient reason for President Biden to boycott the ceremony.
However, at the beginning of his video he makes a strong statement regarding fake Christians. With a nod to that perspective, I would like to point out that in the fifth chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew, verse 39, we have these words:
But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.
Of course, if you look up online discussions on this particular verse, you will find a great number of folk trying to explain it away or pointing out situations where Jesus did no such thing or just offering advice for what it really means.
I will leave those discussions for others who are genuinely invested in them. My point is that there were a number of reasons why Joe Biden would have chosen to attend the second Trump inauguration. These reasons include the political, a respect for history or tradition, or perhaps Biden wanted to show that he is a better man than Trump was in 2021.
None of these reasons are an indication that Joe Biden lacks respect or loyalty towards his own family or himself, as Coach D seems to suggest somewhere before the three minute mark of his video. This having been said, I encourage and support the gentleman in his efforts to express himself and attempt to reason with others.
I can also point to Matthew 18:22 in which Jesus speaks to forgiving someone who sins against us up to 77 times. Given that it is highly likely that Trump has exceeded that number of offences by an exponent of at least 10, if anyone here proclaiming the Christian faith wishes to forgo extending continued forgiveness to the man, then I am prepared to accept their right to hold a grudge. . . and also I don't really care because I am a godless atheist.
