Related: About this forumTrump makes brutal mistake amid court ruling - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
another court has ruled against Donald
Trump i think if he gets one more his
next lawsuit is free this is just
another
day judges they used to have a chill gig
comfy chair breathable robe but in the
Trump era the rulings never stopped in a
bombshell ruling a federal court blocked
the White House from implementing that
list the US Court of International Trade
will freeze the president's sweeping 10%
tariffs on our top trading partners it
includes that separate set of tariffs
levied against China Mexico and Canada
can you really call it a bombshell when
everybody saw this coming that's like
saying stunning bombshell smoking weed
makes you hungry late yesterday the
Court of International Trade in New York
ruled that the Emergency Law the
International Emergency Economic Powers
Act or AIPA invoked by Trump to impose
these sweeping tariffs actually doesn't
give him unilateral authority instead
the court ruled that power resides with
Congress but the real bombshell here was
that this little court even existed um
this is like the the court in the in the
corner
right who had ever heard of it but you
know I mean most of us had not and 95%
of the people watching say "Yeah this is
the court in the corner that nerdy
little court that other courts bully by
shoving into lockers this court is
probably going to go to College of
Virgin and even that court is dropping
rulings against the president of the
United States." But as you'd expect once
news of this ruling broke every member
of Trump's team took the decision in
stride the courts should have no role
here there is a troubling and dangerous
trend of unelected judges inserting
themselves into the presidential
decision-making process america cannot
function if President Trump or any other
president for that matter has their
sensitive diplomatic or trade
negotiations railroaded by activist
judges um that's the disturbing trend
you're seeing because the disturbing
trend I'm seeing is that every single
time somebody rules against this
administration they're a far-reaching
left-leaning activist judge even when
they're literally not um and with
respect to the the legal arguments
themselves these are rogue judges uh
that are basically was appointed by
Donald Trump that's a rogue judge there
was one appointed by Donald Trump and
one by doesn't it suck when you get
called out on a teensy little
technicality like Donald Trump being the
one who appointed the very judge who
you're claiming has it out for Donald
Trump meanwhile if a judge rules in
favor of you then they're patriotic
heroes who deserve to have a bald eagle
named after them one of the let's call
it sticking points over Trump's tariffs
though has been his use of executive
power to exert trade policy rather than
going through Congress where he has a
majority it baffles the mind not just of
sane Americans but also Fox News
reporters so the courts are basically
telling you guys they think that the
White House's policies the president's
policies are in some way against the law
so why can't President Trump ask the
Republicans that control the House and
the Republicans that control the Senate
just to make a new law did you happen to
catch Levit's contemptuous little giggle
the oh aren't you adorably naive chuckle
at the mere prospect of trying to pass a
bill the way the founders intended bills
to be passed trump isn't trying to go
through Congress for the same reason
Matt Gates doesn't try to sleep with
women he hasn't paid because you know
it's a pain in the ass i mean honestly
Republicans in Congress are little more
than extensions of Trump himself it's
not like they put up any fight but Trump
is so drunk on power that he doesn't
view any branch of government other than
the executive as legitimate and so the
White House is going to go at it alone
and the rationale they landed
on to justify this they need tariffs
because America is in a state of
emergency and so the rules don't apply
and that's sound logic unless you
actually think about it but the use of
of emergency powers is something that
many presidents have stretched you know
as far as they can and I don't think
anybody can deny that Donald Trump has
tried to stretch or maybe just explore
uh the edges of of executive power nice
catch yes Trump isn't breaking the law
he's merely exploring it he's like Dora
well maybe that's a bad example dora
would likely be deported to a Central
American goolog he's like white Dora the
reality is that since April 2nd Trump's
tariffs haven't produced deals or wins
but they have produced wide criticism
from economists along with mountains of
anxiety for Americans of course that's
not how Scott Bessant sees it this
administration is committed to fair
trade and we are striking the best deals
for the American people and anything
that the courts do to get in the way the
both harms the American people in terms
of trade and in terms of tariff revenue
where are the deals scott Besson is
trying to lay the blame on the courts as
to why Trump's tariffs aren't producing
outstanding results as opposed to the
fact that they are simply atrocious
economic policy it's like Danny DeVito
blaming the wind for why he can't dunk a
basketball but let's hear from Peter
Navaro surely he a man who served as the
senior counselor for trade and
manufacturing is finally willing to
admit objective reality as it relates to
these tariffs nothing has really changed
here in that sense we're still um as we
speak having countries call us and tell
us they want a deal so these deals are
going to happen peter Navaro is like the
guy at the bar who's been rejected by
every single woman all night long but at
last call he's still going strong look
at everybody here trying to play it cool
they all want me it's going to happen
outside of the deals with the UK with
whom we have a trade surplus there have
been no deals and contrary to popular
belief in the White House saying it a
lot on TV doesn't somehow manifest it
into reality these trade deals are the
infrastructure week of Trump's second
term but if you thought that Trump
Trump's team acted fast on his shitty
tariff policy they acted even faster to
appeal this latest ruling and today an
appeals court panel weighed in some
breaking news just in the last hour that
the Court of Appeals for the Federal
Circuit is granting the administration's
request for an emergency stay
essentially what this means is that at
least temporarily all tariffs can remain
in place in spite of that ruling just
last night to explain here this isn't
the appeals court ruling on the merits
it's simply the appeals court allowing
the tariffs to stay in place temporarily
while they litigate this issue pretty
standard procedural stuff and in fact
many of the rulings that Trump would
ultimately go on to lose had previously
been stayed by lower courts meaning it's
very likely that Trump will also lose
when this court's final ruling is handed
down and if Donald Trump wasn't so
blinded by his massive ego he would see
when he is being gifted a win his grand
tariffs have been nothing short of a
disaster for his administration and for
America proving that his quote
liberation day is the worst piece of
branding since Trek bicycles tried to
get into the tax prep business and named
it pedophile trump's tariffs have tanked
the stock market forced to downgrade
America's credit rating paralyzed small
businesses caused chaos at our ports and
let's not forget brought upon the latest
scourge of doll rationing maybe the
children will have two dolls instead of
$30 you know and maybe the two dolls
will cost a couple of bucks more than
they would normally when you're bragging
that your trade policy will likely make
babies
cry you might have lost the plot and so
instead of appealing Donald Trump should
have taken the win this court decision
was Trump's ultimate excuse to cut bait
on his self-imposed cluster of a
strategy he could say that his hands
were tied by the courts he could blame
activist judges that he appointed and
then he could move on to some slightly
more popular policy position like
killing puppies but he couldn't do it he
couldn't take the win he was given
because even as his economic policy is
cratering our economy he is too focused
on protecting his fragile ego and so
instead we've all got to sit idly by and
watch everything crash and burn i mean
we've got the only economy in the
industrialized world that is contracting
and unlike one of Trump's children this
isn't an accident it's his fault you'd
think that changing course away from
economic disaster would be a good thing
but he can't do it because for Trump any
slight pivot is a sign of capitulation
and that means weakness and we couldn't
possibly have that this president
despises the term taco Trump but I think
it's incredibly apt donald Trump is
exactly like a hard shell taco because
regardless of all the warning signs he
is hellbent on stacking one thing on top
of the next and it's only a matter of
time before the whole thing completely
breaks apart in our lap
