(7,520 posts)3. That's the point why should we be put it the position to having to wait....
....while the presenter draws out post to gain minutes.
So here is what I know from my EXTENSIVE research. There is a calculation they make and I'm going to tell you how it works...... but you will have to come back tomorrow to this post to see what I found.
You won't mind waiting for the promise to be full filled.... right?

(7,520 posts)4. I'm sure we have all struggled with YouTube ads about who knows what when all you want is to find out what the......
..... current post has to tell us. And why does it stretch out for at least 8 minutes before you get an answer?

(7,520 posts)5. Finally... here is the formula they use to make us wait.
8-Minute Rule (formerly 10 minutes)
Key Formula:
Videos ≥ 8 minutes = More ads = More money
YouTube allows mid-roll ads (ads inserted within the video) only on videos that are at least 8 minutes long.
Shorter videos can only have pre-roll (before) and post-roll (after) ads.
So, creators who want to increase earnings often:
* Stretch content to at least 8 minutes
* Add intros, recaps, or commentary to pad time

Monetization Formula (Simplified)
YouTuber revenue from ads is calculated roughly like this:
Revenue = (CPM × Views) / 1000
* CPM (Cost Per Mille): How much advertisers pay per 1,000 ad views (varies by topic, season, audience).
* More ads per video = More CPM impact
* Longer videos (8+ min) can include multiple mid-rolls, increasing revenue without needing more views
Example:
* 5-minute video with 1 pre-roll = 1 ad
* 10-minute video with 1 pre-roll + 2 mid-rolls = 3 ads → 3× the revenue potential

Factors Influencing the Ideal Video Length
* Niche: Finance, tech, and education have higher CPMs
* Viewer retention: Longer watch time = better algorithm ranking
* Engagement: Higher likes/comments/shares boost visibility

Common YouTuber Strategies
* Aim for 812 minutes for a balance of retention and revenue
* Use cliffhangers or teasers to improve watch time
* Break longer content into a multi-part series to multiply ad views

(36,037 posts)6. lol. i was hoping you'd know. i started watching but decided learning the "message" wasn't worth the price of
watching him ramble.
sometimes i get a bit impatient.
and i know what you're saying about how so many people just draw it out.
