treason there would inevitably be a chorus of replies about the legal definition of treason in statute and the constitution. This is well established here on DU. But the word treason has been around a lot longer than than the United States and the constitution. It has both a cultural and a legal definition. I agree that the allegation that Uygur relates would be considered a violation of the Espionage Act, not an act of treason. But in the end this is just splitting hairs. Moreover, ambiguity and gray zones are inherent to law because they are inherent to life in general. Practically every Supreme Court decision is an exercise in burrowing down into the gray zone to further define the meaning and limitations of a law or the constitution.
