Rep. Clyburn on His New Book "The First Eight" and the Govt. Shutdown Deal - Amanpour and Company PBS

Since coming into office the Trump administration has been waging war on DEI, calling into question the hard work of many who reformed the American system -- like the pioneering Black politicians of South Carolina, to whom Congressman Jim Clyburn attributes his career success.

Clyburn was the first African American to represent South Carolina since 1897, and his new book "The First Eight" focuses on trailblazing Black lawmakers from his home state. The Congressman spoke with Hari Sreenivasan. - Originally aired on November 13, 2025.
