Psaki: National crises of political violence call for unifying leadership - The Briefing w/Jen Psaki - MSNBC

Jen Psaki looks back at past examples of political violence in the United States and how political leaders addressed the country with calls for unity and cooler heads, with examples from John Boehner to Utah Governor Spender Cox, who spoke this morning at a press conference announcing that the suspect in the shooting of Charlie Kirk is in custody. - Aired on 09/12/2025.

I appreciate your efforts in finding and posting clips. The instantaneous blaming and revenge inciting rhetoric reminded me of the “blame antifa” frenzy in 2020. The false rumor was spread that antifa was going to launch an invasion. Some towns believed it and organized vigilante groups. For example, in Klamath Falls, OR, a group wearing bulletproof vests and armed with guns and baseball bats grouped up on the city streets at night to patrol. Their rhetoric was extremely inflammatory. Of course nothing happened because there were no gangs of antifa coming for them. I’m 75 and it saddens me thinking of all the political violence I’ve seen. Thanks again for your contributions.

This was my favorite tonight, and she chose brilliant examples!

And I know what you mean, it seems like these violent disturbances are never ending. I'm listening to Liz Cheney's book (which I recommend, she goes into detail about what House members experienced on January 6th). And I finally looked up what antifa really is since we hear it so often and it's definitely not even remotely aligned with what Democrats believe. I'm so sorry that you had to experience what all of us dread.

And I may be in New York, but we got redistricted a few years back and when the moderate Democrat from up north retired, we got stuck with Stefanik! She avoids public appearances and Town Halls because protesters always show up. Recently she attempted a rare public appearance up north and was boo'd off the stage! I so want to be done with her as a national embarrassment!

And I'm so glad that you enjoy the videos, I know that DUers might not have time to watch the news shows and some don't have TV, so I try to keep up!
