(243,145 posts)Truth be told, I don't think that there's anything wrong with the Democratic Party, we have the thinkers, who know history, and are not afraid to speak out. But I see everything wrong with the "party of Lincoln" - and the party of Reagan. While I was never a fan of Reagan, he welcomed immigration, was extremely tough on Russia - which at the time was led by Gorbachev who had instituted more progressive policies - and he joined the other living former presidents, Carter and Ford, in supporting President Clinton's 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. What happened to that Republican Party??
And while I admit that the Democratic Party isn't perfect, all I have to do is count the number of Republicans who have switched sides in the era of Trump. The Lincoln Project is just an example. I still believe that we have the best and the brightest on our side, and those who truly represent the American people. I'm holding my breath hoping that the midterms will restore a Congressional majority, but every single day we get more devastating news from the felon-in-chief and I really don't think we can wait that long.
