Muay Thai is a lot more brutal than kickboxing -- Muay Thai fighters are allowed to use their knees and elbows, which can do a LOT of damage, and you can continue to bash your opponent during a clench. It's a lot closer to an outright attempt to kill your opponent than most most martial arts allow. Carano had a lot of guts to get into that ring in Thailand. She did great. Her extra reach (with both kicks and punches) gave her an edge, for sure.

Also, I have to add: Did you see that predator stare from Carano in the ring (10:08, for example)? Wow.
