Related: About this forumPackers acquire Micah Parsons
Dallas has traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay for two first round picks and a defensive tackle (Kenny Smith). It's likely those first rounders will be late picks, because the Packers defense - pretty good already - just got a lot better. One of the reasons for this is that Parsons was tired of waiting to be paid by Jerry Jones and asked for a trade. He'll be getting an average of $47 million a year for the next four years, which makes him the highest paid non-quarterback and the 12th highest paid player overall.
Last year, a year in which the Cowboys struggled more than a little on both sides of the ball, Parsons got 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss, along with 30 solo tackles, which was - believe it or not - a career low for him in all three categories. He has 52.5 sacks and an impressive 63 TFLs in his four year career. This guy's a bona fide stud, and the NFC North just got a little better.

(640 posts)Clark, Smith. He's no Parsons, so I screwed up his name. Pretty good run stuffer, I hear, but this move was all about salary from a Cowboys perspective.

(6,868 posts)Sure, trade away your best player because you're a billionaire who's too cheap to pay the best player in the NFL.
THANK YOU JERRAH!!

(11,392 posts)They were all over that trade until the back acted up. Now their two picks are draft capital for a QB.

A couple of 29 picks probably won't net a QB.
Plus, doesn't Prescott have 3 years left on his contract?

Cowboys going 30 for 30.
They were last good before free agency.
Now tightwad Jerry is breaking records.
