Late in the day, but the first hummingbird of the season showed up! Earth Day

3. Last year they showed up on April 28, the 24th year before that, so this is a couple of days earlier

5. 2 feeders out, no takers.

7. It's still early, at least by a week, but we're always looking.

8. My pals arrived yesterday

about a week later than usual. The battles begin soon. The Lewis woodpeckers and northern flickers are healthy and stable.

But….the mockingbirds, evening grosbeaks, and kingbirds are disappearing.

9. Spring has now really arrived :)

10. I just put my feeders up today.....low and behold my first one just showed, tried to take a photo

and it flew away. The first to arrive are the males aren’t they?? Ya know checking things out for their females to come next. I’m so happy, I love the hummers…….think I get one more feeder. I have two up one hanging, and one on the window. Love the window one, I get a real close up of them. 🥰 🥰 🥰

I should say too, a male and female Baltimore Oriole hit the finch feeders. Always funny watching them try to drink out of the humming ear bird feeders.

11. This year the female hummer came first. The male came almost exactly the same day as last year April 29

So we have both, there was a bit of activity today with both birds. There may be more females but I have to see them together to know. The female acts as if she’s got a nest, and maybe eggs. I’m very happy about it too, and I do have a feeder on the windowsill that the female came to today
