Bob Uecker honored in Milwaukee before Giants-Brewers game.

Unfortunately for the Brew Crew, John Miller imitated Bob’s trademark home run call as the Giants parked one.

“get up, get up, get out of here, gone!"

Game in progress.

Many will remember him from “Major League”

in Milwaukee called "Liquid Johnny's" and they started having an annual "World's Largest Tailgate Party" with bands and the whole bit in the stadium parking lot. Tickets were reasonable and all proceeds, as I recall, went to fight childhood cancer. So they had a whole big parking section that was just for the many hundreds of people who always showed up for the party.

The weather was beautiful and things were starting around 11:00 a.m. and I pulled into the parking area and there was Uecker in orange coveralls, Liquid Johnny's hat and sunglasses directing traffic. I slowed up and thanked him. One of the best moments of my life. It's the kind of guy he was. He didn't have to do that but he wanted to help.

Robin Yount aptly concluded things with a late-in-life quote from Ueck:
“I’m not afraid of death. I just don’t want to be there!”

Long live the spirit of friendship he brought yo all who met him.
