We have 2 sportsradio stations in Chicago.
I flipped to one in my car & a baseball game was on.
I thought "Yeah, the Cubs are playing."
Not being one to listen to baseball on the radio, I changed to the other.
Sure enough, the Sox are playing too.
After a few seconds, the announcer mentioned Pete Crow-Armstrong. "Wait a second, PCR plays for the Cubs" I thought.
Duh! The Cubs were playing the Sox! I had completely forgotten that series was coming up.

(15,282 posts)the Sox and Cubs played one charity exhibition game each year. They was always a highlight as I was a Sox fan and my older brother was a Cubs fan.

(180 posts)......dumb luck that I caught the Cubs at "Comiskey" once and the White Sox at Wrigley the second time. Both were great experiences, but I admit that I just love the game.

I had a friend who had an apartment straight back of Right Field, we had a great view of the the plate, not so good of the deep outfield. One summer (the summer after the Cubs started playing night games), one of the lights in the sign up over the back stop was out, so we watched the UBS for a month or so before they fixed it.

(40,489 posts)I lived in NYC in the 80s and worked in a ad business photo lab. In the evening all the guys would have the games on their radios in their darkrooms. Theres a certain rhythm to it. Its pretty cool and the Mets won the World Series that year or the pennant. 1986. I think I cant remember.
Living in the Midwest and with most of the baseball teams having radio stations that were 50,000 watts at night, I could listen to a game someplace pretty much every day.
Both Chicago teams of course - they came in night and day.
At night we got the Twins, the Cardinals, Brewers, Royals, Reds, Houston, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and sometimes Philly Boston and the Yanks.
Then baseball went into its drug and money grubbing days and I said no more

(72,754 posts)I listened to way less over time, then when the games hit 3&1/2 hours, I found it intolerable because of all the dead time. Too many stories, not enough baseball.
With the rule changes, maybe it's better now. Not sure.
