Watching the half-pipe events and I'm wondering --- Is there a functional reason for the baggy clothing? Sometimes it looks like a sail trying to catch the wind.

... but it may also be less restrictive of movement. I know my boys (Both snowboarders and in their 40s now!) looked like ambulatory piles of dirty laundry with their extremes in peak bagginess. But then, I wore bell bottoms in the sixties, so... to each his or her own.
