US climber Alex Honnold completes rope-free climb up Taipei 101 skyscraper - DW News



An American climber has scaled one of Asia's tallest buildings, Taipei 101. Alex Honnold climbed it without any safety gear. The event was initially postponed due to poor weather; but when the skies cleared, he began his slow ascent in front of nervous crowds, and a global Netflix streaming audience.

I had to take a break. He climbs to the top of a building over 1600 feet and stands on this little
point maybe 3 feet round in the wind and takes a selfie. I couldn't do that 10 feet off the ground.
