EAGAN, Minn. After months of attacks and two attempted bans, the tush push will survive into the 2025 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles confirmed on social media.
After Wednesday morning debates that included speeches from team owner Jeffrey Lurie and former longtime Eagles center Jason Kelce, the league did not pass an amended proposal from the Green Bay Packers that would have functionally eliminated the Eagles signature quarterback sneak play that helped them to their title of reigning Super Bowl champions.

Ten teams voted against the ban, the Athletic and ESPN reported. Clubs that voted with the Eagles include the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and New York Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Initially, the Packers proposed restricting any offensive player from immediately at the snap, push or throw his body against a teammate, who was lined up directly behind the snapper and received the snap, to aid him in an attempt to gain yardage.

(3,327 posts)Step one -- put your twitchiest and strongest def lineman and line directly on the center low.
Step two - At snap of ball this defensive launches straight up to push the centers back into a vertical poisiton -- no attempt to penetrate just straight up
Step three -- Twitchiest LB or Safety who can lay the wood (ala David Fulcher, Mike Singletary, Ray Lewis, etc) have them launch launch as hard as possible directly midchest at the center to snap the upper spine backwards with the shoulder pads and not the helmet. (Legal hit)
Then when the QB gets pushed into the small of the back of the center he will crumple like an accordian.
You will likely give up the first down on the first play. A center will likely be legally injured every other tush push. Could do the same thing to guards.
The Eagles will need to dress at least 10 offensive lineman for every game and will not be able to run the play with non practice squad players by the fourth game.
The same could be said of the Bills who run this play a lot.

(10,814 posts)When Bart Starr scored the winning touchdown in the ice bowl, the play called was Brown Right 53 Wedge. The play was designed to go to the fullback, who was lined up directly behind the QB, but the footing was so bad that Starr kept the ball and just shuffled his feet to fall into the end zone as Jerry Kramer and Ken Bowman wedged Cowboy Jethro Pugh.
Fullback, Chuck Mercein, thought he was to get the ball. He was running toward the line when he saw Starr fall into the end zone. Because of the footing he couldnt pull up, and to show the officials he wasnt assisting Starr, he threw up both hands. Fans thought he was signaling a touchdown, but that wasnt the case.
