In her defense - she did NOT call that little snot MTG a
"Bleach blonde, bad built butch body.

Mr. Comer said a insult of appearance did not violate house rules.

She was asking a fair question.

Mr Comer said that Ms Greene’s insult ultimately did not violate House rules, leaving Ms Crockett scratching her head at the rulings.

“If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blond, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” she asked the chairman.

Her question was met with confusion from Mr Comer. “Uh, what now?” he asked.

Mr. Comer should have behaved as a gentleman and defended Representative Crockett - clearly stating that MTSnotface was out of order.

Maybe he was drunk - which is why he allowed that insult to stand.

He then didn't seem to understand the question Rep Crockett asked.

All she did was ask a question with context (bbbb).

I can't possibly be the only black woman at DU who has been put in uncomfortable positions while engaging in her work. For Gen X - people snidely called us arrogant. Our mothers, and aunts were called uppity.

Something that hits me? There seems to be this dominant culture belief that Rep Crockett should have "taken it".

Nope - no more. We aren't our grandmother's. You insult one of us - you insult us all. Dear Dominant Culture America - You are on notice.

Representative Crockett was wholly entitled to her point of order inquiry. Comer broke his own rule. Had he not MTG would have had her time to speak withdrawn.

Representative Crockett brought righteousness and elevated the discussion.

Additionally, she is now an urban legend with her words set to music in genres from rap to country in at least four or five songs published hours after she strongly made her perfect point.

I'm more than grateful we have strong, intelligent, fearless people ~especially Black women~ who are devoted to a life of service to the American people. Representative Crockett sets a high bar and an example for us all.

MTG will never be anything but a joke.

that everyone (including everyone in the House) immediately interpreted it as insulting MTG. You are exactly right - she asked if saying something like that would be appropriate. The fact that it was absolutely a spot on description of MTG did not mean she called MTG that. The fact that everyone interpreted it as aimed at MTG is their problem, not Crockett's.

If he ruled "yes", then Crockett then asks him to condemn MTG. If he said no, then she is free to personally insult the hell (what an easy target) out of MTG.

Maybe this time Comer's stupidity got him out of a jam.
